Louies' place seems to be the garden. Here he loves to stalk and keep an eye out for the birds. We bought him an ordinary garden pot and turned it on its side so he could sit in it in the sun. He uses it to hide in and await any garden intruders.
There have been some hair-raising moments though. Up untill this year the most he caught was very sleepy worms. Suddenly he has brought back two pigeons! Unfortunately, being a cat he did not totaly killed his prey.
Luckily we were there to intervene. I ended up having to drown both birds to put them out of thier misery. It wasn't easy and quite a strange feeling. Still, Cats are only responding to mother nature. The other frightening moment was when the new neighbours Black Cat "Sam" managed to jump into the garden (over the chicken wire. If we had not been around this would have turned into a very viscous fight. however it was obviously quite a frightening experience for Sam to and he has not been back since. We also don't get burglars.....
We didn't realise that as well as the honour of becoming a Premier (December 2007) Louie was also awarded a small silver medal from the GCCF. On the medal it states his Pedigree name (Stacym Nacarat Nonsuch) and recognises his new Premier status. We were chuffed to bits!
Territories have never been a great problem for Louie and Ellie but we have had to keep an eye on things now and again. (see Territories for more info). For instance Louie seems to have made the garden his own. There were times when we saw poor little Ellie just sitting in the conservetory looking out to the garden as if she was afraid to go out. We need not have worried, more often than not they are out playing together.
There has been another situation where the reverse is true. The main bedroom has always been Ellies territory. Untill we started giving them treats last thing at night. This attracted Louie and so the boundaries around the room became a bit Skewiff so to speak. Subsequently fighting began to break out late at night, just before we were getting ready for bed. We have remedied this now by giving Lou his treats in "his room", the spare room. Alls fair in love and war. A little more love eh guys?
The Kent Messenger has started another Precious Pets competition. Last year (see Dec 2007) ellie came 13th out of 500! Which wouldn't have been so bad if she hadn't have been beaten by a guinea pig. Anyway, we've got high hopes for Lou. The results are out in July so keep tuned.. Left is the picture we entered to the paper.
