CAT NAME - REASON

Mog - after gremlins, looks like mogwai
Jack - unknow to be honest!
Mr Bob - blue point persian, looks like eldley gentelman
Coff - used to coff when she me-awed
Psycho - ENOUGH SAID!!!
Numb nuts - crazy cat - try's to jump on things and misses -
Big Red - big ginger
Angus - after AC/DC lead guitarist
Melcome - after AC/DC rythem guitarist
Willie - found at work (williams pallets)
Bell - used to be stinky bell, found covered in cat poo

I think you have to look at the cat, she how their personality is, & then take it from there when you are choosing a name. You can have loads of fun choosing, good luck,

thank you so much Duffy..as you say,you need to look at them & contemplate & hope the right name hits you.
As I'm (hopefully) bringing her home Monday..I've been thinking about Valentine,as the days so near...I know thats usually a mans name, but I'm not keen on Valentina as it will be shortened to Tina which I dont like.
As you say I will watch & think & decide.
Meanwhile if you come up with more please let loose, even if I dont choose one of them it may come really close, & I'm very grateful.
Bye the way she's half Burmese Blue point & half Silver Tabby if that helps. My last cat was called Bluebell, so I want to steer away from the Blue???? whatever this time.
Thanks again Duffy & anyone else please feel free to join in.
Bye :D

We used to have two brown Burmese. One was called Tutenkamen and the second was called Norman. Very different names. But there is a story behind how Norman was named. When Norman was first aquired from the breeder we were mistakenly told he was a female. (poor Norm...). Anyway when Burmese are born they often have rings around their back legs which disappear after the first few months of thier lives. When a friend saw these she said "She looks like that Norma out of Last of the Summer Wine! The rings on her legs look like the wrinkles on her stockings. You'll have to call her Norma!" It was the vet who hit us with the news of his sexuality and so the only thing we could do was make her Norman which seemed to suit him to a tee.

Thought I'd best let you know, after getting to know her a little, I've decided call her Pippa, as I think it suits her, as she is so little & dainty & I think that's how she will remain, small & dainty & therefore, " My Little Pip".
Not the usual high-flown names I often choose...she just seems to fit Pip, or Pippa.
Thanks everyone x :D

Little Pip sounds great. I'm sure other names for her will pass your lips in love frustration and anger(!) before she gets out of kittenhood. It would be a great to see apicture of her if you have a chance to put one up in "members cats".

You've also given me a great idea. I think i might start a forum thats just around how members cats got their names. It sounds really interesting so far!

thanks khakicats (P.s. where does your username come from?)

Hi there,

My username is just put together by me.....favourite thing in all the world, ( even above tennis & sprouts! ) are cats, but didn't fancy sproutcats, or tenniscats, so favourite colour = khaki, hence khakicats. Usually find that nobody else has got there before me with that name. :D

Your topic idea sounds good! BTW I'm nothing to do with the army ( khaki ) just really like khaki.

Bye

We have two cats at the moment, Carys, who is a nine year told Tortoiseshell and Ajax who is a 10 month old black and white lunatic.

Carys is also known as "The Tarty Torty" because of her habit of being a little tart to anybody who happens to be passing the front window.

Ajax is also known as "get down from there you little s** ", or "no, you're not hungry", or "pongo (after he's used his litter tray)"

He was known as Gizmo when he was a kitten because he had floppy ears, before that Krystal, and when we first had him he was called Rosie...our friends didn't notice that he had a pair of.....but thats a different story :)

The best advice I can offer is that cat names are always best matched to the cat or kitten and something that you don't mind saying in public, i.e. when you are in the vets or at half past eleven at night when you are calling for the cat to come in.
